Fat, odour and freshness
Dry food and treats are high in fat; through a weak inner layer the fat migrates and stains the outside. Odour escapes the same way and draws unwanted attention from pests in stores and warehouses.
Metallised (PET/MPET/PE) and foil (PET/AL/PE) structures keep fat, odour and oxygen inside and slow down the fats turning rancid.
Strength in large bags

Zipper, window and print
A zipper slows the smell spreading from an opened bag and the food going stale; large bags usually take a pocket zipper. A window shows the food but lets light and oxygen in; for a long shelf life we recommend a structure without one. Print runs up to 10 colours by rotogravure, in matte or gloss.

Barrier Requirements
Fat and oxygen barrier: Pet food packaging is one of the highest-barrier categories. PET/MET-PET/PE structure delivers OTR ≤2 cc/m²/day, MVTR ≤1.5 g/m²/day. For premium and long shelf-life products, PET/Aluminium/PE structure is preferred; OTR and aroma loss approach zero.
Mechanical resistance: Large-format pet food packaging (10-20 kg) requires high puncture resistance. Inner PE layer 100-150 microns, seal width 12-15 mm. Carry-hole or strap handle systems are reinforced against mechanical stress. ASTM D5276 drop testing from 1.5 m, 5 times with full product.
Aroma integrity: Pet food aroma directly affects consumption desire in pets. Aromas leaking during production or dissipating over shelf life devalue the product in the eyes of both consumer and pet. High-barrier structure guarantees aroma stability across the full shelf life.
