Custom Kraft Pouches and Kraft Bags

Paper on the outside, barrier on the inside

Kraft paper on its own cannot protect food: it lets moisture, oil and oxygen straight through and it will not heat-seal. That is why every kraft pouch is a laminate — kraft outside for the look and the print, a barrier film in the middle, and a polyethylene sealant layer inside that closes the pouch.

Kraft/PET/PE is the standard build for dry goods and is the only one that takes a clear window. Kraft/ALU/PE adds an aluminium foil layer for the highest barrier against oxygen and light, which is what roasted coffee needs. Kraft/METPET/PE sits between the two: metallised protection at a lower cost, usually combined with a degassing valve.

Stock kraft sizes and structures

These are the kraft pouches we hold unprinted in our own warehouse — stand-up pouches with and without a window, side-gusset bags and flat bottom bags, all with a zipper. The table is generated from the live stock catalogue, so it never lists a size we do not actually keep.

Printing on kraft

Brown kraft is not a white substrate. Colours come out warmer and more muted than they look on screen or on film, fine tonal gradients flatten, and fluorescent inks simply do not reproduce. When a brand needs full, exact colour we either switch to white kraft or lay a white base under the artwork — both are normal and we say which one your design needs before we print.

A window shows the product and breaks up the paper surface. We position it together with your artwork so that seals, the zipper track and the valve stay clear. Rotogravure printing takes up to 10 colours; we send a digital proof within 24–48 hours of receiving print-ready files.

Recyclability: the honest answer

A kraft pouch looks like paper but is a paper-plastic laminate. It does not belong in the paper stream — it goes into mixed packaging collection. If recyclability is the actual requirement, for example because of EU packaging rules, a mono-material PE structure is the right answer, not kraft.

We make both and we will not pretend otherwise: kraft buys you a natural shelf presence, mono-PE buys you recyclability. Today you choose one or the other, and we would rather tell you that up front than after 50,000 pouches are printed.
