This creates a packaging paradox: the package must let CO2 out while keeping oxygen from getting in.

  • PE Inner Layer: Allows heat sealing and provides food-safe contact

This combination achieves OTR values below 1 cc/m²/day, keeping coffee fresh for 6-12 months when unopened.

Specialty Coffee Packaging Best Practices

  1. Pack fresh: Ideally within 24-48 hours of roasting
  2. Nitrogen flush: Replace headspace air with inert nitrogen
  3. Resealable zipper: Allows consumers to maintain freshness at home
  4. Proper sizing: Minimize headspace to reduce trapped oxygen
  5. Quality valve: Invest in reliable, consistent degassing valves
